MATH - We will continue with our measurement unit. This week we will convert between metric units of measurements. If you struggle with this - the textbook can be a great resource. Check out pages 857-886 for additional practice.
Grammar - We will move into our punctuation unit and practice using commas, apostrophes, quotation marks, italics, colons, hyphens, and parentheses. Social Studies - We will begin studying the 'Boom Years' of the 1950's and quickly move into the 1960's and the civil rights era. Science - We will start our new Life Science unit this week. Students will learn about classification systems, plants and animal cells, and inherited traits. Reading - We will continue practicing our constructed responses in reading and preparing for the upcoming Milestones. Math - We've completed our unit on volume and composite figures and have moved into our measurement unit. We will start with standard measurements in length, weight, and capacity and quickly move into the metric system. ELA/Grammar - We will test out of our huge capitalization unit this week and begin our unit on the various types of punctuation. Social Studies - We are moving into the Cold War and Communism. This is a short unit for us and we will test out within the week. Science - We are still in our electricity unit and will focus on conductors, insulators, and resistors this week. We will also begin exploring our magnetism unit this week. Reading - We will start our new novel study this week which ties into our social studies curriculum. Writing - We will continue reviewing for the Milestone's and using the rubrics associated with Narrative and Expository essays. Our presentations for our last RBQ should be completed this week. Grammar - Capitalization #5 Social Studies - Winning the War - read pages 376-381 and complete the lesson review. You will have a quiz over this lesson. Reading - Out of the Dust Project is due Friday, March 10th Math - Composite Volume Worksheet
